Business Systems - looking at inputs and outputs

Business Systems - looking at inputs and outputs

It is a good intellectual tool in management to look at things from a systems perspective

  • What are the outcomes we are seeking to drive?

    • How do we quantify that?

  • What are required inputs - resources going in.

    • How do we quantify that?

For instance for an integration team the resources going in are:

  • Salaries of people

  • Cost of computers and infra-structure

  • And interfaces created (and maintained).

    • How does that impact on revenue earned?

All of these things can then be mapped back to budgets.
