Create a communication link before you need it

This resonates with me.

Another analogy is build a well before you get thirsty. It takes a long time to build a well - if you haven’t built it before you are thirsty then you are in trouble.

In relationships this is about that fact that if you haven’t built the means of communicating around conflict before you hit it, then it’s often too late.

That’s when marriages end, friendships are lost and people end their jobs.
