Boiling the ocean
Boiling the ocean
Boiling the ocean is trying to solve everything at once.
This is the opposite of KISS. By boiling the ocean I am talking about the phenomena where organizations spend way too much time gathering requirements, talking to every person in the organization and building up a staggeringly large number of requirements.
It takes forever.
The bad assumptions stack up, the problems look more and more complicated and the solutions become more and more elaborate. It doesn’t work.
It’s much better to think clearly about what the most important things are that you need to solve first, then work iteratively.
