Adhoc databases for reporting

Creating small adhoc databases to allow reporting to solve specific problems is a valuable tool in the integration engineers belt.

The key words here are small and it’s okay for the structure to be adhoc. Once again - remember a good integration engineer doesn’t boil the ocean.

This tool works well where there is clarity on what problem you are solving.

What you don’t want to do is what some IT departments call “data warehousing”.

Once you have a adhoc database - a good question to ask is “How can we use this database to do reporting?
