Tor Browser

The Tor browser has a bit of bad brand - it’s part of the ‘dark web’ where bad things happen in the ‘dark web’. But the browser is also about protecting people from surveillance. Like any technology it can be used for good or for evil:

The Tor browser is used by people who live in oppressive regimes to try and maintain their safety. And it’s also used by less nice people for some criminal purposes - hence it’s mixed brand.

Technologically it tries to use proxy servers to make it difficult to trace where web requests are coming from.
