Keyboard innovation never stopped
You could write pages and pages on the topic.
There are all sorts of crazy ones out there.
Key questions to ask when you consider a keyboard are:
To what extent is typing speed your bottleneck? Yoda say “smart programmer code in little words”. Typing may not be your bottleneck. For me I write a lot, so it matters to me.
Do you have health conditions?
For I have some muscle problems developing in my left hand. Not as severe as some people.
How able are you to learn a new type of keyboard?
The more different the more time it will take.
How far from the ‘average’ are you.
See https://medium.com/@jigarmehta277/web-developers-and-on-average-bce9d923a2c8 by Jigar Mehta on this topic of the mythical average.
Anyways that hopefully gets you started on the journey to find the keyboard right from you.
I found A keyboard that was right for Eliot now .
