A keyboard that was right for Eliot now

So a keyboard that @Jacob Pagnotta helped me find which I love is this one:

For me this is a wonderful keyboard. The keys have a nice tactile clicking feel, yet they are very quiet so can work at night if I want to. I spend years learning QWERTY and am not yet open to exploring others. The keyboard has a built in big heavy battery which means the keyboard doesn’t bounce and I never have to go look for spare AA batteries and figure out what to do with the old ones.

Hopefully the battery will last a long time. I have not had this keyboard for long. Still getting used to the split nature of it. It wasn’t that expensive. Starting to feel really good.

Other than having large hands and some weird muscle problems in my left hand I am a somewhat typical user. I am right handed.

Feker seems to be a nice company that is really in love with the problem of making a nice keyboard for a fairly average English speaking user.

Someone like me.

Keyboards

With keyboards there are all sorts of exotic ones. I haven’t used any of these nor have had a friend use them so frankly I would have low trust that these options for me personally and it’s hard to experience them without trying them and even then like the Dvorak keyboard you have to actually commit to learning each one to really understand it. Quite a tough problem. Unless you are keyboard hobbyist or have significant health issues I wouldn’t personally recommend them but they may in fact be good for some people. Every one is different.

Ask yourself the question - to what extent does my bad keyboard represent a bottleneck. Make a change. Measure, repeat and iterate.
