Cable management
Desktops can end up with a lot of cables, there are various cable management solutions
Tubing to contain and route cables
You can see the white “Rabaldar” tubing I got from Ikea (in the photos below) it does the job but it is not pretty
Something like one of these from Amazon would look better
Woven plastic sleeve
This is probably the best compromise for good looks and ease of use
Neoprene sleeve black or white – with velcro
Can cut to length
Velcro is probably more reliable than zips
Some pictures of the neoprene do not look so neat as they can bulge and crinkle a bit
Neoprene sleeve with a zip
Fixed length is a disadvantage
Some reviews say the the zip can fail
NOTE: Bundling wires together with velcro “zip ties”, wire bag ties, or even string before putting them into the tubing may help
A desktop cable box to contain cables and small devices
My Ikea Bekant standing desk comes with a storage net underneath it
This is such a great idea – simple and very flexible storage
Mine is full of power supplies and cables that I rarely need to touch
Cable management box on the destop
Should have a lid on the top that fits well for quick easy access
My Ikea one has a cork lid that does not fit well it is annoying (but out of sight)
Useful for storing things you want easy access to like a hub etc
Needs plenty of holes & slots for cables to go in and out
You want slots at table level for tidy cable routing
You can coil up excess lengths of cables in the box (or route them under the desk)
They are often advertised for storing a cable strip – NO put that under the desk IMHO
I also have an under-desk rack similar to this – which is OK but not great
There are a wide variety of under desk solutions (which I have not used )
There are some very tidy looking (but expensive) under desk “closets” or “boxes”
And there are simpler open versions
And then even DIY solutions for the imaginative
