Anna - who helps me with many things including cleaning my home

Treat all people who work with you as human beings - show an interest to help with their problems and you'll get better help with your problems

If you employ someone to help clean your house - as I do. Then you have a responsibility to be a good employer and treat them as well as any other human being that works with you.

The two things which come to mind are:

  • Treat them with empathy.

  • Never assume that they understand your needs like you do. Be prepared to conceptually build them up especially explaining the needs of your household.

  • Show an interest and try to be helpful with their problems.

  • Try and focus on talking through your needs and emotions and give space for them to offer their best knowledge to meet your needs without a deep sense of obligation.

  • Always assume that they know a heap of things you don’t

  • Recognize if you ask the right questions then you’ll get better information out of them

    • Anna who helps to to clean my home has been cleaning houses for 20 years - she knows a heap of ways of solving problems.

    • She also knows about accountancy, financial investments, has a deep knowledge of how to take care of cats
