History of HTTP

HTTP - hyper text transfer protocol was a standard developed by Tim Berners-Lee in CERN as a solution to academics to share hypertext documents for research. We can thank him and his genius for inventing the web.

It’s really important to recognize that he was trying to solve a very specific problem which he did well but there are features of HTTP like HTTP methods and HTTP error codes which when you step back are not that useful for many of the problems we solve with HTTP today.
