Cloud GIT Hosting Service
This is a service provided by a company to store GIT repositories in remote servers (ala “the cloud”). It solves the problem of where to securely store and access these shared repositories.

These websites provide some convenient tools for graphically browsing a GIT repository to see how it has changed, what the content is etc.
Can an organization do this for themselves? Yes - quite possible and if you were highly concerned about confidentiality of the data this might be worth it. However the above services are priced very reasonably compared to doing it yourself and more so they offer a lot of additional value in terms of the tools they give for understanding your GIT repository.
