Some of our customers were not too happy about this choice.

One of the problems was we could never guarantee 100% that a change in python wouldn’t break out customers code.
There was the performance issue. Mainly an issue for Windows, but Windows is our most popular platform.
The Python API is not safe by design. But the the Lua API approach is.
