One of the problems I see with our society is that we are over specialized and over siloed.
For any given area of expertise lets say for example:
C++ programming
Family law
Javascript programming
CSS layout.
People get overly excited about learning every possible concept within their own delimited set of knowledge.
They make their areas of knowledge unnecessarily complicated which results in making things very difficult for outsiders to understand. Each domain of knowledge becomes so all consuming that it becomes overwhelming to learn about other areas of knowledge.
It’s a bad pattern because it makes it so much harder to find simple elegant solutions to things which could enrich us as individuals and collectively as a society.
I have a fairly unique perspective in that I am deeply technical. I understand not just C++ but also front end technologies like Javascript, CSS and HTML. But I also run an organization so I have understanding of management, knowledge of basic psychology and communication. So I see a lot more than most people and I have come to realize how much we all could benefit by simplifying our own knowledge and learning more about other areas of knowledge we do not yet understand.
