Sapiens

I think Yuval Noah Harari put it quite nicely in his book Sapiens that the difference between apes and humans is that a human believe in six impossible things before breakfast. Concepts such as money, the nation of Canada are all imaginary concepts with no real physical manifestation other than the fact that enough humans believe in these concepts for them to be real in their impact on our day to day behaviours.
