I recently installed a couple of air conditioning units into my top floor. Overall I am pretty happy with the improvement - my top floor was an oven, now it is very pleasant.
However the remote for the air conditioner is a classic example of having too many features and trying to solve problems that the engineering team that makes it doesn’t understand well enough:
The remote has a heap of features I don’t understand and have zero motivation to learn. What it doesn’t have is a simple way to convert from Farenheit to Celcius. I had to look a three third party video sites to find a way to do it and it process managed to mis-configure my unit. I still don’t remember how to do it - at some point I will have to look it up again.
If I were in Trane management I would:
Just have an off and on button
Change mode from heating to cooling
Change temperature
Have a button to change the units between Celcius and Farenheit
Make an App and publish an API which works well so that third party manufacturers can integrate their system into an overall system
