Amazon Web Services makes a smooth process in setting up a fresh modern Linux distribution just using your web browser. Before you can start you will need an account, so eitherhopefully your best choice:

titleFIRST!! See if you have access to your organization's AWS Account

How your organization gives access to Amazon Web Services will vary. This is how Lev our system administrator gave iNTERFACEWARE staff access to AWS through the Google Applications:

titleOR if you don't have one then create your own free AWS Account (but you will need a credit card)

Just go to:

https://aws.amazon.com/

And you can create a free Amazon Web Services account - you will need enter a credit card. Just be careful to only provision machines in the free tier.

ThenIf you have access to an AWS Account:

titleYou can create an Linux machine

In 30 seconds I set up an AWS Linux instance which can be used for installing Iguana:

  1. Name the server - using your name and the word test is helpful to indicate to your co-workers that the machine isn’t important.

  2. Amazon Linux is an excellent choice

  2. You have to select a “key pair”.

    1. Pick any one or make a new one - since we can connect via the Amazon web console it’s not super necessary.

titleWait a few minutes. Then connect to your Linux machine!

For AWS to completely initialize the machine takes a little longer. I suggest you do something else - take a break, get a coffee or what ever brings you joy. Then in the next video you can see how one can easily connect to your instance:

In this case I use the build in browser tool. It’s possible to connect in other ways like ssh but that is different topic.

From just a few minutes and clicks you have a fresh working Linux machine to install IguanaX on.
