Many integration engineers I has spoke to have said their two most important tools were:
The phone
And Iguana
In that order Today the phone would be replaced by Zoom or Teams but it does clearly layout the importance of communication in this role.
An integration engineer needs to be willing to embrace and understand the problems that their work is solving. So they have to be interested in learning and understand the work flows they their interfaces help to optimize.
This the role of building out the interfaces in with Iguana. This person needs to understand the data flow and how to manipulate it to achieve the end result.
They have to be good at building relationships with development.
